KORN Guitarist Interviewed On 101.7 THE FOX
July 13, 2010On July 11, KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer was interviewed by Scott Less of the 101.7 The Fox radio station at the Mountain View, California stop of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Watch the chat below.
KORN performed an 80-minute concert inside a crop circle during a special North American broadcast on Sunday (July 11) on HDNet. The event premiered online around the world the following day (Monday, July 12). The crop circle was featured in a series of viral videos posted online by the band and the concert is said to be inspired by the eerie atmosphere of PINK FLOYD's legendary "Live At Pompei" gig.
Singer Jonathan Davis said in a statement, "The setting and the mood took us into a totally new direction musically. We took the opportunity to stretch out and experiment with the performance. I don't think we'll ever be the same."
KORN shot the viral videos in a wheat field near the band's native Bakersfield, California.
Davis said in a statement that the fields, where the band members used to play as kids, get "pretty spooky" at night. He added, "That's where we got the inspiration for the whole thing, so we decided to have some fun with the viral videos."
The group worked with U.K. based CircleMakers.org on the circle's design. It features a series of intricate circles, one of which includes the KORN logo, and stretches over 920 feet long and 350 feet wide.
The concert promoted the arrival of KORN's ninth album, "Korn III - Remember Who You Are", which came out today (Tuesday, July 13).
